I chucked off my shoes, putting them well out of reach of the lapping river. Then I thought better of it and put them under some bushes. There. For some reason that little act made me feel safer. I shifted with a little effort, turning into a sleek dapple gray thoroughbred mare. I danced lightly on my hooves and pranced. I tossed my head and leaped into the water, delighted with the spray that came up around me. I pawed the water watching the seemingly crystal drops spatter my pelt and make it sparkle. I let out an overjoyed whinny and used my powerful back legs to push myself deeper into the shining river. Oh this was so fun! It was nice to get out of Jisa's house and stray into the wilderness. I was swimming, occasionally dunking my head underwater and seeing fish before coming up with my silken ears flat back, eyes rolling white and nostrils blowing. I swam back to where my legs could touch the sandy bottom. Shaking my head I watched fascinated as the water came off in those mesmerizing crystal drops. My body was dark with water and my mane hung in clumps on my neck. I sighed a contented sigh before plunging back into the water to repeat everything once more. How I loved sunshiny days like this with nothing to worry about!

Victoria yawned as she flew through the forest. She has been flying for days nonstop. Whenever she chose a place to stay, danger was near by. She rarely ate anything on her sleepless nights. "Man... why does danger always appear near me?" Victoria said to herself as she looked for a place to sleep and eat. She moved her head around as she flew slowly through the woods. Her wings glistening the the sun's rays that seeped into the woods. She heard a river up ahead and stopped, floating in mid air. She heard some splashing noises and heard a hores. "Whats a horse doing here?" She asked herself. AS she started to fly closer to the noise, she felt something hit her head hard. She saw her vision becoming dark as she started to fall down towards the ground. She felt herself land on something soft and hard along with a smell of feet. Before she moved, she blacked out, letting the darkness take over her into a deep sleep.

I pricked my ears. What was that?! Danger! Danger! I clambered up to the bank and almost started to run away. No. No! That's not you. I scolded. That's the horse side. I sighed. I almost lost control of myself. I pricked my ears once more and heard a faint rustle. Jisa would kill me for not running or at least staying where I was... I walked toward the owner of the noise. A squeal of surprise erupted out of me as I almost stepped on the little being. It was a fairy. I blew on it and nudged it, letting those motherly instincts take over. I refrained from licking the little fairy, that would have been beyond gross.
"Wake up, little one." I said but came out instead as a concerned nicker. What would Jisa do? I always asked myself that if I was in doubt. She was my mentor or hero of sorts. It was just that she was so experienced with our strange world and well...cool. A sassy answer for the question I had asked came back to me in my head. She would have faced the sound but not go near it now wouldn't she. Shut up. I told myself. But your the one that asked me. But I told you shut up! I replied. Wait what the heck was I doing! Talk to a tree sure, at least you could see it, but talk to yourself and your surely going mad! I let out another squeal, this one sounding purely of frustration. Another sigh. I laid down carefully, surrounding the little being with my body. This could take a while.

Victoria moaned as she slowly sat up, rubbing her head. "What in the world hit me?" She asked herself as she opened her eyes slowly. She heard loud breathing around her and slowly looked up. She saw a huge horse laying next to her. "AHH!" Victoria yelled as she started to fly away. She winced in pain and started to fall. She landed on the horse's hoof and looked her her wings. Her right wing was bent and slightly torn. She looked back at the horse and walked backwards, falling off the hoof. "Please dont kill me or eat me or drown me, or bury me, or antything." Victoria said frightenly as bumped into a stone, her escape less likely to happen.

I had soon nodded off waiting for the fairy to awaken. All that swimming had made me tired. A yell jerked me awake and I almost panicked before I remembered the fairy. She was awake too, yelling at me not to kill her or eat her, not that I ever would, or drown her or bury her or anything like that. I looked puzzled. This little fairy obviously didn't know horses because most horses couldn't do half of those things. I snorted my amusement and stood up. Should I shift back into my human form? Maybe. Besides this little one couldn't hurt anything. I blinked sleepily as I watched the fairy bump into a stone. Shifting would be a good idea, though it might just scare her half to death. So I imagined myself as human and shifted back into everyday Ashleigh.
"Hello there. I'm not going to hurt you or anything else. I just kinda found you here so.." I ventured, hoping I hadn't frightened her too much. Maybe we could be friends!

Victoria sighed as she looked up at the human. "Thank you." Victoria said as she stood up. "Your not the only shifter i met." Victoria said as she stood up and looked at the human. "My name is Victoria Lunar Rose. You can call me Vicky. So what are you doing out her? Are you lost? do you have any friends? Do you have any food cause im starving and I havent eaten in days." Victoria said as she held her stomach. Talking about food make her stomach growl. She held her stomach and blush slightly. "So, where you from? Victoria asked. She turned and try to straighten her wing but had trouble from her angle.

"I'm not? Well I'm from..." I had long forgotten the name of the town I had come from. " I, well, kinda forgot now. That town wasn't good for me and I'm not good for it. I've moved on and here I am in Clearstone. As for what I was doing here, I was swimming! It's such a nice day and I didn't want to waste it! So nice to meet you Vicky. I'm Ashleigh or Ash. I'm sorry I don't have any food with me...but the river is good to drink!" Should I tell her about Jisa? No. I don't think Jisa would be too appreciative. But Vicky said I wasn't the only shifter she's met so maybe, just maybe, she's met Jisa! "So um, you said I wasn't the only shifter you've met do you remember any of the other shifter's names?" I asked, hoping it wasn't too suspicious. " Do you need help with that?" I added, noticing for the first time her bent wing. I sat down, folding my legs underneath me. Might as well be polite.

"Sure." Victoria said as she climbed into the her hand. "I dont remember his name. I always called him "Wolfboy" for he shifted into a wolf. I came from a far away place that i forgot the name. I had a boyfriend but he...was killed, along with my other friends. I never found out how they were killed but i flew off, away from the pain i felt..." Victoria said sadly as she let Ash fix her wing. She wiped a tear away from her cheek and stood up. "Is it ok if i stay with you?" She asked the shifter. She flutter her wings and flew over to the river. She went to a calm, shallow area and bent down to drink.

I watched curiously as the fairy climbed on my hand. Wolfboy. That was defiantly not Jisa. I felt sympathetic to Vicky. All of her friends killed and she didn't even know why. "Um..well sure. So what were these friends names..maybe some are still alive, after all you don't really know if they were killed do you? I might even know one of them." I said. There was still a chance. Maybe a small one but still a chance. I didn't want to bring random strangers to a place that I didn't even own. I'm suppose to help Jisa not potentially kill her! Again I just stood there and watched. Being around a person who didn't talk much took its toll. Then again, I was never a big talker.

"Well, there was wolfboy of course, this vampire that i forgot her name, Jessica the human, Tabitha a human size fairy, and this perverted guy fairy the same size as me named Anthony, and Emerald. Somehow, me and Anthony became a couple. I flew off somewhere to relax and when i came back, Tabitha and Anthony were gone, along with the others..." Victoria said sadly as she sat on Ash's head. "But, thats life for you." She said as she laid down. She looked up at the trees, watching the leaves move. "So what about you Ash?" She asked, moving her head downward to see somewhat of Ash's face. She knows more about humans now, but she still loves to listen to their stories.

"Oh. Ok. I'm sorry. Maybe the are around here, somewhere." I said. She hadn't mentioned Jisa's name but Jessica had gotten my hopes up a little. I would answer her question before I asked another. "Well, I don't have much to tell. I've runaway from home and never looked back. My first day here I was chased by EF. I ran into my friend..." I decided to risk it. Saying Jisa's name. Vicky couldn't hurt us. I'm was almost sure she couldn't. "Jisa. I'm living with her now." I had just notice that I didn't have any shoes on and Vicky was on top of my head. I streched out, careful not to move my head too much. My feet buried themselves into the cool sand of the river bank. I watched as the river flowed by. Peaceful bliss with a new friend.

Victoria's eyes widen when she heard Jisa's name. "JIsa! That was her name! I dont remember if that was the vampire or the other shifter i knew. I havent seen her in so long! How is she?" Victoria asked excitedly. She was happy to hear that someone she knew was around this area and alive. She stood up and started to fly around the shifter's head. From afar, it would look like a halo circling Ash's head. Victoria calmed down and landed back down on the head. "Exactly why did you feel left out where you lived?" Victoria asked as she looked down. She very slightly remembered about her home. And how she was alone. She understands somewhat of Ash's feelings.

"Really! She's a shifter like me! Jisa is fine, as far as I can tell...you know how she is." I said, almost as excited. I looked up as I heard the fluttering of wings and saw the fairy circling round and round and round... I shook my head and stared at the river again as the fairy landed on my head again. I closed my eyes and tilted my head down, my excitement coming to an abrupt halt at Vicky's question. What was it that made me feel left out...? School, my parents, or maybe it was...everything? "I don't know. Life just didn't feel right there, like I didn't belong. I was miserable all the time. I just don't know exactly..." Memories flooded back of that town, that house, and that school. Bad memories, bitter sweet ones, and even those few joyful ones. I could feel my eyes clouding up and I ducked my head to prevent tears from welling up and spilling out of my eyes. I will not cry about this again. I won't. I won't. I won't!

"I see. Don't worry Ash. I never knew where i lived or who my family was...all i remember is being on my own in the woods. Nothing else." Victoria said sadly as she let a few tears fall. "Anyway...can i stay with you?" Victoria asked hopefully as she floated in front of Ash's face. She didnt want to be alone again. She forgot what it felt like being with friends but now, she hopes it can happen again. She prayed in her mind and looked at the shifter. She did admire Ash's outfit and shoes. They had a nice touch to them. She looked down at her body and realized, she wore the same outfit for months. She sighed silently as she looked at the necklace Anthony gave her all those months ago. Oh how she wished that everything was normal.

I let one tear escape my eyes, no more dare came. I wiped it away quickly and stood up. Vicky was in my face and I didn't exactly want her to be there right now. "Sure! I don't mind at all. Maybe Jisa will let you stay with us!" I said. It would be good for Jisa to see that some of her old friends were still alive, Vicky too. Even though I didn't know if Jisa had already met old friends but if so hey here's another one! I smiled and stepped into the river and took a drink myself. I started to wade in a little bit more, the water tempting me to shift again and resume playing in the water. I blinked thoughtfully...maybe.
