Ever so silently, a small figure crept up the huge, moonlit driveway toward the giant house at the far end of town. Her dark waves shrouded her pale skin, her blue eyes luminescent. Her light footsteps mimicked a cat like movement, stealthy and quick. Her heartbeat thrummed in her ears and her chest. Blue eyes widened in fear, the young girl hesitated, her throat burning slightly. Finally the huge driveway ended and the tiny figure stood on the porch, poised to flee if anything came out after her. The humid night left her brow damp and the air thick. Silver moonlight cast shadows everywhere, making shapes that kept the teenager on alert. Swallowing thickly, she moved forward and stopped again. Her gentle fingers touched the silver chain on her neck, the pendant the same sapphire blue of her eyes. A teardrop resting on her collarbone. She'll remember... The trouble was that the girl didn't remember. Finally she raised a tightly clenched fist and brought it down on the door.

I paced my room silently. I couldn't sleep. I didn't want to slip out of the house either. My jaw was set and my brown eyes darted suspiciously every which way. I had no idea why I was just so nervous, I guess. I stopped my pacing. One timid knock on the door. Was it Jisa? No, she would have just walked in. I creped out of my room with practiced ease. My feet hardly made a sound as I glided down the stairs. Who could it be? Surely the EF didn't have enough manners to knock. I nearly snorted. Yeah, let me know whenever they do get some sliver of manners. I opened the door a crack, then wider. Who was this? It was a young girl, with sky blue eyes that glittered in the moonlight. Her eyes reminded me of Jisa but they missed the cold, icy sharpness in them. Hair wavy and so brown that I almost mistaken it for black. "Who are you?" I asked curiously. Did Jisa know her? I stared at the girl, younger than I for once, with my harden dark brown eyes. I was anxious, I wanted to shift and go galloping in the woods. Why was I so restless tonight? Questions questions...now was the younger girl going to give me answers or a answer?

The slight sound of footsteps on stairs forced Anya to take a half step back. Maybe this wasn't such a great idea. However she forced herself to listen more closely. It was not the sound of a human or a lithe EF Hunter. It wasn't the sound of a big cat shifter either. Anxiously waiting in the shadows of the big front porch, the young girl's hand stayed clutching the sapphire teardrop on her chest. Every one of her instincts shouted at her to run, human, shifter, vampire and EF blood. That should give a person a clue. Anya didn't have much to lose though, so she stayed. The door opened a crack, the dark pupils of Anya's stunning eyes dilated. Her feet felt like cinder blocks, her legs like lead. The older girl was only an inch or two taller than Anya, which made her relax just a little. The Shifter's question almost made Anya shy away, but she kept her ground, if only she had a choice. Setting her lips together, Anya stared back.
"I don't know, where's Jisa?"
Ignoring the brown haired teenager's question, Anya asked her own. She didn't want to give her name to someone she didn't know. Especially because this person was in her mother's friend's house.

I let a long breath come out of my nose. It was my way of silent laughter. I doubt it. She didn't know. Ha. That was funny...unless of course she really didn't know who she was. That wasn't so funny. "I don't know." Was my short reply. I didn't want to give something vital away. "You know her? How?" I wouldn't say too much until she answered those questions. I seriously didn't know where Jisa was. Nobody did except for Jisa, of course. I didn't blame her of course for not stating her name but I just wanted to know: How did she know Jisa? It didn't look as if this might be an enemy of my friend. I mean hello she had to be at least three years or so younger than me! I let my head cock to the side not giving any ground. Surely you've learned enough from Jisa to act as if you don't care about anything. That almost earned more silent laughter. Being around the panther shifter had taught me a lot. Including how to be stubborner than I all ready was. So I imitated Jisa, like a duckling does to its mom.

Quickly, Anya was becoming more stubborn but more fearful to be here. What was with all of the questions? All the pale girl wanted was to see Jisa. Clenching her teeth together and swallowing again, Anya forced herself to remove her hand from the teardrop pendant on her silver chain. You know her? How? Well the truth was, she didn't. Glancing around nervously, Anya looked back up at the Shifter and silently pleaded that she had her facts right.
"I don't. My mother does- or did... or whatever. They were friends before I was born- I think."
Anya's voice was tight. She didn't like the cool, emotionless thing this girl was playing at.
"I need to see Jisa."

I nodded. "One slight problem. As I told you, I don't know where she is. We both kinda come and go as we please." The girl was nervous. I was restless. I didn't let the careful guard that I had built over my emotions slip. Alright so all you know is that she has to see Jisa. You know that her mom is an old friend of Jisa's. Not much. I suppose I could start by being a little more friendly. I let a small smile slip through. "My name's Ashleigh or Ash. If your what you claim to be then I guess it's all right to let you know that. I'm Jisa's friend, obviously." My voice was light and playful. My brown eyes softened. She was just a girl.

Anya was quickly becoming less afraid of the girl in front of her and more impatient to get inside. Did the Shifter not know about the EF? Standing on the doorstep was a precarious position, her back was left open to any fire coming from anywhere. However, the teenage appearing girl knew the value of patience and kept herself on the porch. The white sleeveless dress that Anya wore, contrasted with all of her features, leaving her blue eyes and dark brown hair painfully noticeable against her pale skin.
"Nice to meet you Ash, I'm Anya."
Anya nodded with a gentle smile. Then she reduced to biting her lip a little, wondering what she could possibly do now. Tell the truth? That might be a little shocking but Anya couldn't stay in her big house all alone, waiting for them to come and get her too. With Jisa and perhaps Ash's protection, she'd be fine. Her mother used to speak of Jisa like she was near invincible. Anya's blue eyes dropped to her feet as she swallowed the lump in her throat. Gathering herself, Anya looked straight up at Ash.
"The EF got my mom, I can't stay alone and Jisa's the only one I've come close to knowing."

My eyes wandered past the girl to the shadows of the street. Nothing moved but that didn't matter. Things hide in the shadows, danger being one of them. I shifted my weight experimentally from one foot to another. "I'm sorry to hear that. The EF are cruel people. I'm lucky enough to have run away from home. Instead of..." Nodding slowly, I continued. "I bet Jisa will recognize you anyhow. You'll be ok here. Jisa doesn't let harm come to her friends easily. Besides I've given the EF the slip one time too many. Do you know they usually have really bad aims?" I grinned, it was my own joke. The Elites never did seem to hit their mark anyway, not the ones I've met. Though I never did under estimate them. They were a force to reckon with. With that I opened the door wider. "Why don't you come in?" I stepped aside, inviting Anya in. It couldn't hurt a thing. Hopefully.

Anya relaxed when she realized that she'd most likely sense it if someone other than Ash was around. Nevertheless, the stunning mixed breed girl kept her weight on the balls of her feet. Life had been just fine and then all of a sudden her mother went missing. Anya had always known that people would be after her and her family because of her rare and powerful breed of Supernatural running in her veins. When Ash opened the door wider to let her in, Anya let all of the tension in her body relax. She stepped inside and felt a type of home feeling that she'd never really had in her house.
"It depends what you think they're aiming for."
Anya answered Ash's joke quietly, almost to herself. She blinked at the huge house's interior. Then she remembered what her mother had told her. Anya had been born inside this house. It helped to soothe her nerves.
"Thankyou."

"Oh trust me I know where their aiming most the time. You welcome though I wouldn't thank me." I closed the door behind the girl. I was a little less alert but still as restless as ever. I started to think about Jisa. Where was she right now? The black haired shifter could be anywhere. I shrugged. As I said who knows? "So..." I didn't know what to say. Now that I knew Anya's name and sorta kinda why she was here there wasn't much to say. I fingered my hair as I usually did when I was bored or nervous. "Um do you go to school?" I didn't go to school anymore and I didn't exactly care about that. As long as I could use my wits to solve my problems I was ok.

Anya nodded thoughtfully at Ash's answer. Maybe she did know where they were aiming, but no one ever truly knew. She kept a hold on her tongue, keeping back the fact that her mother hadn't been killed and that Jisa hadn't either- obviously. Who knew? Maybe the EF were after Ash for the same reason. Not to kill. Not that many people knew that.
"Well I was supposed to, but,"
Anya shrugged as she looked at Ash, she should be at school too. Not right now, but it didn't seem as if she was a person to go of her own free will. At that moment she heard the door open and her head snapped that way, so fast that it would have given a human whiplash. The tall, dark figure in the doorway looked surprised. Jisa.
Jisa entered her house, on edge anyway because of the smell of someone else with Ash. However, when she saw who it was, she relaxed in one way and became tired in another.
"Anya?"
It wasn't that Jisa had hoped never to see the little girl again, it was just weird. It had been a life time ago that she had seen Stella. Wait. Stella? Where was she? The points added up but Jisa refused to believe her own pessimistic logic.
"Where's Stella?"

"I see. Well, not really a necessity when your a Supernatural, now is it?" I replied to the short answer. I smiled slyly. School was boring anyway. I took a deep breath unconsciously and caught a scent of something I would be glad to see.
Jisa. I scented her but couldn't hear her silent approach, as usual. So I wasn't as surprised as Anya when the tall, darkly clad figure walked in. I rarely saw any emotion on Jisa's face but this time I could see plain as day that she was surprised. Well, at least you know Jisa knows Anya. "Hey Jisa." I said, happy to see her. I shook my head, slightly as not to alert Anya but it probably did, when Jisa inquired about Stella, probably Anya's mother. I would let Anya see to that explanation. She had a right anyway. "I see you two sorta know each other..." I said trying to break the bad mood I felt coming on. Then I decided to keep my mouth shut and see what happened. I wasn't exactly included in this now was I? I made myself a little less noticeable, ducking my head and stepping back a pace or so.

Jisa raised an eyebrow at Ash's little shaking head motion at the mention of Stella. Damn it. She thought tersely to herself, not being able to manage anymore than that. Shock. Hey, well even the most messed up people have emotions sometimes. Only sometimes. Jisa's lips thinned as she tried not to go into her whole 'The world's out to get me' type mood. More so she was looking at Anya, with not a look of pity but only a little sadness. For some reason Anya had always resembled Jisa a little bit, but now that she had lost her parents at thirteen- well sort of- Jisa couldn't help but think that the world wasn't fair on Supernaturals. Swallowing Jisa looked at Ash as she backed off, managing a sort of smile at that, Jisa turned back to Anya. Of course Anya wasn't there, but instead had raced to Jisa's side and wrapped her arms around the tall Shifter's waist. Eyes widened, Jisa tried not to gasp. The girl was strong.
"It's okay."
She found herself saying absent mindedly, playing with the little waves of Anya's dark hair.
"So what's up Ash?"
She changed the subject as the little girl stepped away.

I watched on silently. My mouth did open slightly as I saw the girl had enough guts to hug Jisa. I made a soft humph sound of laughter. Jisa's eyes widened a bit and I moved my head to the side. Seems like Anya was giving Jisa the classic bear hug. It wasn't often that you got to see someone like Jisa deal with a situation like this. Though the situation was funny at all, just this moment. Poor Anya. Though I didn't let the pity show on my face. I always hated it when ever someone showed me pity, for what ever the reason. I was yanked out of my thoughts by Jisa's question. "Oh um...same old same old. Nothing exciting really happened. And you?I replied, silently teasing her with my dancing brown eyes. This was the highlight of my day. Though it soon ended with Anya stepping away. I stretched my starting to get stiff limbs. I wonder what time it is? My eyes flicked to a window. It was still dark outside, aside from the moonlight. I wouldn't be able to tell. Not like it mattered anyway. Once again I shifted my weight from foot to foot, as if I was getting ready to run somewhere. Perhaps I was, in the coming morning. Or perhaps I would stick around for a day or two. That decision would come when it came.

Jisa heard the stifled laughter of Ash, and fought the smile that was coming to her own lips in return. Well, guess you go from zero to... two? Not exactly a hero. All of these younger, more happy people were soon going to rub off on her. That just wouldn't do. Anyways, Jisa had a lot more to think about than just looking after a runaway and an.. orphan? The thoughts just tired her out. Life was getting more complicated by the day. Ash's answer snapped Jisa out of her own troublesome thoughts as she stopped a grin from intruding on her face.
"And by same old, same old I suppose you mean more messing with the EF?"
Jisa made it seem as if she were accusing Ash, instead of joking with her. Eyebrow raised she looked at Anya, who seemed very uncomfortable with the subject of Hunters. Anya looked up at Jisa and Jisa nodded. Anya seemed relieved as she left the room and went upstairs. Good with children? No. But good with awkward situations? Sometimes. After Anya left, Jisa sat down, crossing her legs on the couch.
