I was getting a little cocky but if I wasn't cocky I'd be worried about myself. I had felt on of my hooves clip her leg. It was a great feeling that pulsed through me. I saw the rifle drop. I screamed, a haunting chilling sound, to let her know I had some pent up anger to release and then leaped toward the rifle. All right gun my turn to make you feel pain! I let my front hooves reach to the sky, stiffened them, and then brought them down. Snap! I was very pleased and so I did it again with the same result. Then I turned to the cop, who was running for the rife. It was already too late. The damage had been done. I was victorious in that round. Now, give up and go away or I'll turn you into your broken rifle. I seemed to say. Then I waited, muscles tense ready to dodge anything she came at me with.

Jane was nearly at the gun when she saw the horse rear up, oh no, your not she thought angrily, but it was too late, the crack of snapping wood echoed through the forest and caused birds to fly from a nearby tree. The noise made Jane slid to a stop wincing, the rifle had been one of the best guns she owned. YOU UTTER BEAST! she yelled, picking up a stone and throwing it at the horse DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH THAT COAST ME?! Jane was screaming her face crinkled up with rage, she picked up another stone and it soon followed the first in its ark. oh your gonna break me are you? she fumed, her eyes like cold steel, we’ll just see about that reaching down too her boot Jane pulled out the knife, blade glinting in the sunshine.

I reared again for the utmost time. It was in pure rage and excitement. I didn't know which one was beating the other in this emo race. The cop picked up some random stones, I really did choose the worst places to stop, and started throwing them at me. The first on whizzed past my head and I shied backward. That action helped me because the second one soon thumped down where I had just been. Squealing I charged at her, I wanted to end this. Then I saw the glint of metal in the sunshine and averted my course quickly. Oh no. Not again! I danced on my hooves like a ballet dancer. I was very skittish. The skin on my left shoulder shivered. The scar of her last knife was hardly visible against my dappled gray coat but that didn't mean it wasn't there. Oh yeah it was there all right. My teeth snapped angrily but it was only a half hearted attempt. Adrenaline pulsed through me and my horse mind took over like it did on Spell Crest. Run! Run! It screamed. I shook myself all over. I didn't have enough strength to run like my mind was telling me to! I was frustrated, terrified, and tired. Not exactly the best combination. My human mind was completely over taken by the wild thoroughbred that shared my muddled mind. I couldn't fight it and knew I would tire myself out completely if I did. So the only other option was to do as it told me. I felt as if I had lost control of the single thing I controlled in my life: myself. I wheeled and ran. I had enough sense to know even if I could shift into my human form I was done. Insane lady had more strength and brute force than a sixteen year old teen. My legs once again pounded the forest floor beneath me and stretched to their limits. I'm not going to stop until I drop! I realized blankly. Then the smallest slivers of my human mind were being pulled up front to throw lassos on my out of control other side.

As the shifter charged at her squealing like a banshee that had just had its teeth pulled out Jane braced herself, holding the knife out in front of her like a pike, hoping that the horse might impale itself on the end of the knife. No such luck, Jane’s hopes of an easy end were dashed as the horse seemed to freak and change direction like a rally car, almost spinning on the spot, rocks flying. your running away AGAIN! Jane said, the last bit shouted at the top of her lungs are all you shifters cowards? she asked, pegging a rock after the retreating horse. Eyes drifting over to the split rifle Jane’s fist clenched and with a growl she bean to run after the kid, knife still held tight in one hand, the knuckles going white.

I had finally stopped. My fear was stemmed. I was disgusted with myself. I just couldn't believe that I had run so wildly, so out of control. I felt as if there were drums all around me. My heart and lungs were part of those drums. Fight, flight, fight, flight. Was there ever an end? How was I going to get rid of the cop this time? Last time dropping her on the run had been the trick. Well, after I had almost run over her. I wish that I did. Would have made my life a whole lot easier at the moment. Maybe I should give up... I would have smacked myself if I was able to. No way was I going to give up just because I was being chased by insane lady that had another knife. I racked and rummaged through my brain to find where I could loose the cop. I moved in a circle, walking like a snail catching my breath and cooling off. Oh yes if only it would be that easy. Just think. Just think. It's always your wits that get you out of situations like this. Always.

Feet pounding on the forest floor she ran after the shifter, her fists clenched and mind ablaze. I need a plan she thought furiously or I could just tackle the blasted thing! Jane’s eyes were focused on the distant horizon so she failed to notice a fallen tree until she’d actually fallen over it. Groaning she rolled herself over she was sitting up, legs flat out in front of her. Youch, that’s gonna leave a mark she muttered, rubbing the back of her head, what little hair she had sticking up on end. Looking at the long trail of tracks that the kid had left in her wake, Jane glared at them but made no move to get up. FINE! she shouted at the unseen shifter YOU WIN THIS ROUND BUT I WILL GET YOU! she leaned back against the log, limbs shaking, eyes sliding shut of there own accord There’s only so far you can run she mumbled to herself, closed eyelids staring up at the sky.

I grunted, the effort of staying upright out of my grasp. I staggered one more step then crumpled into a heap. I wanted to snort in despair, what if that cop came again and found me like this?! Run into the ground like a old plow horse. My worries were put to rest by the bellowing I heard after me. Insane lady had given up. I had too, to the black darkness that wanted to overwhelm me. Such velvet black darkness was a relief over my tired body. You'll have to come up with a plan...a better one. I thought before drifting away to dreamland.
