It was a few days since that meeting with that guy. It was weird and I had been furious ever since I stalked out of the libarary. At just...anything I could think of. My parent's, the EF, that witch, ignorant people like the guy in the library, the unfair; unjust things of this world. That sort of thing. I had frightened myself that day at the library, with the speech..with everything. I had never felt such cold fury and now this was the aftermath. A volcanic eruption of white hot blinding fury. I had no idea how good it felt, just to be mad at the world. To loose yourself in angry thoughts. When I wasn't pacing, thinking about those things, I was running blindly through the forest not caring what heard me. As a human, a horse, or just half the time I didn't know what I was. I wanted the EF to come after me! I wanted a fight! I wanted the challenge of running away from them and then staying hidden. I wanted that tired satisfaction again.
For now I took out my anger in a very small clearing. I reared, yes I had just realized I was a mare, and scrabbled my hooves on a tree. Bark scraped off, leaving a scar on the tree. I didn't care. I wheeled around and charged to the other side in a matter of strides. It took me to a young sapling. A gray foreleg shot up and a hoof sliced down on a young branch. Half-rearing with my head tucked in I brought two stiff forelegs down on it, snapping to pieces. I tossed my head a shrill scream echoing the air. I pawed the pieces, like a snake that I just killed. My eyes rolled white and my breath came in hard shudders. I tossed my head a final time. Then I took some stumbling steps to the middle of the clearing and lay down. Peace. The eruption was over and all there was left was the lava trickling down the sides and the ashes raining from the sky. I let my guard down a little by laying on my side. Thank god that was over. Now that my mind was at least half its normal self again I realized being angry wasn't the thing to do. It was actually quite bad. Well, the bright side it you can store up all that anger again and then go on a rampage like a raging dragon through the countryside.

Jane smiled as she crept up behind the furious teenager, She had been walking around the town when she’d seen a familiar figure storm out of the library and off into the distance. Jane had followed on principle and because she still felt that she had some unfinished business with the shifter. Jane felt more confident, this time she had come properly armed, with a fold up sniper rifle and two hand guns, plus another knife. The girl was so distracted by her feeling or whatever was going on in her head that she didn’t notice Jane tracking her at a discreet distance. Then they reached the forest and the girls form began to go crazy, slipping from horse to human and all shapes in between whoa she’s really mad Jane thought happily she’ll make mistakes Bring up her rifle that she had put together Jane brought the butt of it up to her shoulder and her figure began to pull on the tirger.

I had been careless. And stupid. And-- Something's watching me. I stood up and scented the air...that's a very familiar scent. Oh no! Yup I had been very careless. I wanted a fight and now I got one. Except it was very unfair. There was a lot of gunpowder smell in the air. Insane women is back and she has guns! Or a lot of bullets but either way it was not looking good. I had to get back to civilization, back to concrete. I had the feeling that this EF cop had been following me for a while. I wouldn't have noticed the way I crashed through the underbrush like a rabid hog. I swung my head over to where the scent was most powerful. Not that way. I heaved myself up as fast as I could and darted away. She wasn't going to hurt me this time! I was going to hurt her! Make her pay for this stupid shoulder. I took off running...let's see what's the plan this time? River...to predictable. I could circle round in the forest. That could work. Let's try the easiest way first. I would run this time, not fight. Look where fighting got me last time. Oh man...biggest mistake that I've made yet. I can't believe this...I can't believe this. How careless! I wasn't going to make that fatal mistake that insane woman wanted me to make. I would loose her then go back to the usual ritual. Sleepless nights here we come! Here we go again.

The bullet left the rifle and smacked into the tree behind where the girls head had been moments before. dang shifter and their dang sense of smell! she groaned, swing the gun on it’s strap over her shoulder and chased after the run away shifter. Grabbing one of the hand guns out of her shoulder holsters, she clicked the safety off and leaping over a fallen log landed firing, most of the bullets went wide but that was to be expected when you where running and shooting at the same time, but hopefully some, or even one would hit the target. come on kid just slow down! she yelled, letting forth another burst.

Oh my gosh. I was glad that I started running when I did..or else. A call reached my wildly twitching ears that only made me speed up. Slow down. I doubt it! Longer, faster, faster, faster. What won't kill you will make you stronger. I could hear the bullets scattering behind me. None of them it their target a.k.a. me. Though I could have swore that one of them flew past my ear. I quickly pinned them back after that, so as not to loose a piece of them. I couldn't go like this forever could I? My scab would break and then all that healing would be undone. Don't worry about that! Worry about staying alive to worry about that! I scolded myself. After that I shut everything else off. Sharp right here. Jump that log. Watch out for that root! Faster, faster. Sharper left. Dodge the trees. Leap that fallen tree. Swerve to avoid the thorn bush. Plow through that bush. Keep your head low so you don't hit that branch! It all became one pattern that had no pattern, no repetition. I quickly relaxed to it, still going full speed and trying to decipher the odds of my 'plan' succeeding. I hoped it would. This wasn't like our last chase. Now all I wanted was to be left alone, to my own devices. Though if push comes to shove, I would be the one shoving and insane lady would be the one falling into the mud.

Jane chased after the girls, tripping over a log in the excitement she rolled and was back on her feet in a single move meant. Covered and dust and leaves Jane chased after the shifter I have got to get her to stop! she thought or get ahead of her.. Jane knew all of her advantages lay in stealth and surprise, sadly with the shifters heightened senses Jane lost all those advantages and was left with 3 advantages, her two hand guns and rifle. Speeding up Jane ran at the tree and picked up one of the fallen branches, holding it in one hand she began to swing it in her hand as she ran, speeding herself up, the shifter was much faster than her but if I could just get close enough… Brining her hand up she threw the branch straight at the horse, yelling in the hope that this would encourage the tree limb.

Insane woman let out a yell and I felt something like a tree branch smack my hindquarters. This made me panic and I speed up. Ha. Smacking a horse on the rump is like whipping them! It makes them go faster! Or crazy. Either way I knew that both she and I were now equal in our advantages. She had weapons and I had...well my shifter senses. Don't forget your horse side! My 'conscience' chimed. Yeah. That too. I grumbled. Up and over! I gleefully said to myself as I soared over yet another obstacle. I could hear the EF cop getting further and further behind as I galloped off. Yes! Yes! This could actually work! A new burst of speed lengthened my stride and heightened my courage. I could escape this without a scratch!

Not this again Jane thought and slowed her speed down from sprint to speed walk, what’s the word, where you done something before and are doing it again? she shouted at Ash behind as she began to track the shifter once more, eyes scanning the ground so she didn’t miss the horses tracks and wander off in some direction that would get her lost, again… Putting the hand gun back into its holster Jane swung the rifle around so that she was holding it in two hands Jane started forward whistling to herself tunelessly wonder where the kids gonna go? if she knew where, she could come up with a plan

Deja vu! I wanted to shout back but I too was slowing down. I went from a full out gallop to a walk in less than ten seconds. I shifted quickly from horse to human again. I walked at a fast but silent pace. Let's see. I could go at least a hundred yards to the right and then start heading back to town. Yeah that would work. I looked up at the tree tops, noticing how some of the branches came together. I could climb up one tree and then go from one to another! I felt my body lengthen and widen as I shifted again. I trotted quickly, trying to estimate the amount of yards I was covering. Here should be enough. I started to walk back the way I came from, all the while looking up at the trees. There! I was a human again in a split second and climbing up the tree. I had good practice. When ever I wanted to hide from my parents when I was younger, they were going to whip me for something I did you see, I would climb up our big oak tree and hold as still as I could for hours as the looked around the yard with a belt in their hand. I would have to cover my mouth to keep from giggling when they finally gave up. Yeah I could do that. After all I still had my dark colored clothes on from the library. I quickly climbed up the tree and started moving. Too bad my shifter side isn't a monkey. I could have lost her within minutes. I grinned and hardly paid any attention to my footing. Though I did watch and listen carefully to the noises around me. Then when I reached one particularly tall tree I stopped. Everything was going smoothly. I had only lost my balance only once. I climbed higher, into the thicker branches of the tree and pressed myself against it. I as careful not to move, letting my brown hair hide my face as I closed my eyes. I would wait and see where the EF cop was. Weather she was behind or ahead of me. This could end very quickly. I hope so.

Jane was rembering the map that she had studied once she had become unlost and found her way home. The forest went forever in the direction that the shifter had run in, so she’s gunna do something tricky soon she thought her eyes flicking to the tree’s always look up! her trainers had drilled into her most people don’t! this is a mistake! gun pointing up she began to tread lightly eyes never in the same place twice. Hearing a scrapping sound Jane spun around, gun pointing at the tree, her eyes smiled and she lowered the gun, turning away as she did so. found you Jane grinned when her back was turned to the kid. Looking around at a couple more trees Jane pretended that she didn’t know where the girls was, slowly getting herself closer and closer to the tree. Then when she was right under the tree she spun around and shot straight up, the crack of the gun echoing in the forest.

My heart pounded and blood roared in my ears. I was terrified, not of the cop, but of the guns she carried. I took a deep silent breath. That steadied my nerves. I spotted the EF cop looking around for me. Well that answered one of my questions. She was behind me. I didn't pass her up when I was going limb from limb. I almost moved when a squirrel made a scrabbling sound below me. Then I almost cried out, as the EF cop thought that was me, and fired one of her guns. I bit the inside of my lip as the bullet hit the squirrel and its now lifeless body hit the ground. Please move on. Please move on. You didn't see anything. I didn't dare open my eyes. I knew that the shadows and waving tree branches hide me enough. Besides I had climbed high enough to where a human eye might just be confused of what they saw. If only I could get that gun not to work... Yeah that would be awesome. Though I wanted to avoid another fight. I didn't want to get hurt again. Just remember what you've taught yourself. That's all you need to know.

Jane growled as the squirrel hit the ground with a thud sending leaves flying into the air, she pointed her gun at it shot it one more time for not being the shifter that she was hunting. Wandering around the area again, leaves crackling under her footsteps she made another lap around the area, eyes searching every where, peering into the deepest shadows and likeliest hiding holes. I know you’re here poppet she whispered gun at the ready, and then raised it again I have loads of ammo so, what the Hades
[/b] she thought and shifted the from one shot to fully automatic and began to spray the tress around with a rain of ammo.[/blockquote][/blockquote]

I winced as she shot the squirrel again. I'm sorry little guy. I apologized in my head. My heart quickened again. The EF cop had something in mind. I didn't move. Not at all. Just a slight movement of my breathing. Not enough to give me away. Suddenly the gun fired. It was on automatic and bullets were now like a deadly rain. Don't hit me. Don't hit me. I repeated that thought over and over again, like it could save my life. Apparently it worked! Not a single one of those lead things of death touched me. Though the tree and the trees around it weren't so lucky. I almost smiled anyway. Almost. As I've always said, EF cops have a bad aim. Maybe now she would go away. Maybe now she would move on. If only she would...

Jane was glaring around at the forest her gun hanging limp in her hand, she had come to relies that maybe trying to shoot the leaves out of trees wasn’t as good an idea as she thought. And then the wind changed, blowing into her face instead up from her face, and the wind whipped up a grin that said all you needed to know about Jane the world is looking up Contorting her face into to an expression of rage, turning around she screamed something intelligible at a near by tree and then kicked it. Growling and swearing at nothing in particular she stomped off walking away from where she suspected the kid to be until the thick tree cover hid her position from view now for the plan swinging the infa red goggles down over her eyes she turned and began to go around the spot she had just come from eyes scanning the trees in blues and reds. There were lots little red spots that were squirrels and other forest life and then there was a larger red patch that wasn’t any squirrel. got ya she thought grimly and silent as a whisper crept toward a tree that was near the one that the shifter was hiding in and laid herself down without making a single sound. The wind still whistling through her fuzz like hair Jane shoved her rifle into her shoulder and aimed it at the tree. The shifter could not have smelled or heard her as she approached so now all she had to do was wait.

Insane woman was even more insane than I thought. She yelled something that I couldn't understand. Then she kicked a tree and stomped away. Her face looked like she was furious but something wasn't right. Call it my intuition or call it common sense I knew she had a plan C or what ever plan we were on now. I tried scenting the air but the wind was not in my favor. Oh come on don't turn on me now! I strained my ears and eyes but could spot nothing. Alright time for something crazy. She had stomped off to the right side of where I was. I would head to the left. Time for something crazy and drastic. I looked at the ground below. It was only seven or eight feet. I could make it. One, two, three...jump! I leaped from the tree, knees bent for impact. Once I hit the ground, my legs buckled and I rolled to the left. Good good. Nothing broken yet. I shot up amazingly fast, to me any way. I took two running steps and started to shift. Once I'm gone this way you'll never catch me! I let a cruel grin escape on my face and hope that the cop was too shocked to shoot for just a few seconds.
