There's always been something whimsical and enticing about the night. Apart from the apparent, lurking danger that all humans feel at some point during their lives. I suppose that goes away after you become the reason of their fear. Sure, there's still plenty creepy-crawlies just waiting to get you, but, you know it's there so it's not that frightening. Jisa ducked her head as she trudged along the shoreline, listening to the gentle roar of waves meeting the beach. Far off lights glittered among the inky darkness. Ah, Clearstone, the city of sanctuary. Not quite so. A cool breeze danced along the black water's surface, tugging the Shifter's hair away from her face. Her blue eyes flickered toward the endless expanse of beach and sea- not that you could make out much of a difference between anything. The land gave way to the sea, and eventually the sea gave way to the sky. The only thing that set anything apart was the broken reflection of the moon on the ocean. Jisa's sliding, slow footsteps faltered as she turned to look out. Her tension didn't disappear, she wasn't suddenly enlightened and given hope, but something did change. The young Shifter felt a sort of comfort out in the night. Comfort. That word rarely applied to anything now-a-days.
The whisper of the breeze along grass and trees far off added to the near-silent symphony of the dark. Sighing, Jisa dropped to the sand and tucked her knees up to her chest. Gradually her eyes closed and it was just the sounds, the darkness and the predator. Such a predator that was sick of killing. A tamed kitten if you will. Even the night could not erase the past, but it could make it bearable for the moment. So Jisa opened her Caribbean blue-grey mixed eyes and watched the surf crash forward and recede. Playing an endless game wit the earth.

The crash of waves against rocks blended seamlessly with the hisss of the surf slithering across the beach and then retreating back into the ocean. It was a marvelous thing to watch, this massive sleeping beast that was the ocean carve it's way through the Earth's face with a subtle knife. There was no way to restrain the ocean; harness her power like the rivers that men returned to dam up again and again and again. No, the ocean was a new creature... and she would not rest until she covered the entire world. That kind of earnest determination was a beautiful thing... so pure and childlike in it's innocence, and yet, so ingenious and mechanic in it's design! What kind of man couldn't appreciate such a natural beauty? Of course, the pondering of the ocean and her beauty conjured dozen more things to wonder at and think about; mainly their origin, no? It was nigh impossible to sit and stare at the loveliness of the ocean, and not imagine what it must've been like to sit upon a cloud and draw her face with a finger... Just like it was hard, sometimes, for Felix Artorus to look at the face of a beautiful woman, and not see the tender care that had gone into sculpting her from Heaven's ice. And then reality set in, and the boy knew that it was time to move on. Felix was always interested in thinking about what it would be like to have that kind of power.. to create with a single thought, a being so beautiful that she seemed without flaw or blemish. Much like the ocean, in fact. There was nothing in her that whispered of an error in her design; why question such raw power? Felix lounged in the sand, dressed extraordinarily casually, and looked up at the nighttime sky with a bemused expression. He lay there, hands behind his head, and a single knee raised, and just... thought. He thought about himself; about God, if there was one; about the sky; about the sand; about his life; about his mother and the little he remembered of her; about the sea; about women; about sex and relationships; about love.... Felix had laid down in the warm sand, his head extremely full, and had begun trying to sort out his thoughts. And, here he sat, a full three hours later, still working at clearing his mind. It was grueling work, but rewarding in it's own sinister way; much like removing a particularly painful splinter: One refuses to drop the task, because One knows the work will pay off in the end. Sighing and snapping the doors to his muddled thoughts shut, the boyo glanced down at his attire, scoffing at his own choice in clothing. The morning had dawned particularly warm... at 6am. When he had fled the confines of his apartment toward the end of the day, and ended up here at the beach, he had simply thrown on the first things that tumbled out of his closet when he opened it. A black button-down shirt that hung open on his broad chest, only because he was alone, of course, and a pair of dark-olive cargo-shorts. He looked, not only completely out of character, but like a tourist! His black hair was moist and sandy, and his bare feet were caked with wet sand. Not a particularly attractive image. Rolling his eyes softly, the gent glanced around and sat up, glad for the night's peculiar brightness. Of course, after sitting so long in one attitude, Felix was glad for any kind of excuse to get up and walk away from this spot. His rendezvous with his memories and thoughts had left him in a strange and foreign mood. He felt sluggish and thoughtful... as well as full of peace and clarity. Eager to flee his mind, Felix stood suddenly and stalked down a length of the beach, his head down, and his hands stowed deep in his pockets. Seeing as how nobody was around, he didn't have to worry about keeping his shirt closed. For some reason that he was generally unwilling to disclose, Felix had an issue or two with modesty... which was the main reason he hardly ever left the house in something other than his customary black turtleneck and pants. Of course, it was fairly obvious to see why he preferred to keep his stomach from view once you were lucky enough to actually see it... a huge assortment of scars which were only beginning to really fade, covered the left side of his ribcage, where his ribs had been broken, and pierced his skin, in his tussle with Him. He never wanted anyone to see those marks, the caustic reminders of his life in Germany with Him, and all that He had cost Felix: everything. Once again wrapped in his thoughts, Felix nearly passed a girl that was sitting alone in the sand, just watching the ocean. Not unlike the way he had been less than ten minutes ago. The boyo paused in his stride, glancing at the girl in an attempt to see her face, and was foiled by the position of the moon, which was behind her. " You're one brave girl sitting all alone out here, you know.. " Unable to see her, Felix couldn't really judge anything about this girl. How was he supposed to know whether or not she was capable of defending herself? Not that it mattered much, many a girl was abducted, no mater how capable she was. " What're you doing out here this late, anyway? " Without thinking, Felix reached up to smooth his shirt, and realized that it was still unbuttoned. With a furious blush and a muttered apology, he quickly did the buttons and turned to look at the ocean, trying to fight his chagrin with a desperate prayer to whatever God might exist that the mystery-girl hadn't seen the nasty blemish on his skin. She was probably nauseated, no? Who wouldn't be?

The sand underfoot was cool and coarse. You would've thought that Summer would be a little warmer at night, but it was always like this in the beginning; warm during the day and chilly when darkness fell. The moon shone and reflected silver beams, so bright that everything seemed a ghostly, bone white. Not that the moon and stars alone could light up the night. Most people would be drawing their day to an end, not so for Jisa. In fact, her day had only just begun. The grotesque thought invaded on the serene peace that had earlier befallen the troubled Shifter. Suddenly feeling the chill, Jisa wrapped her arms around her legs and rested her chin on her knees. The beach was good at night. Not during the day, mind you. During the day people tended to gravitate to the beach and ongoing staring was something found within the teems of people. The old Jisa would have enjoyed a couple of stares, greeted them with snarky smirks even. But that was the old Jisa. Too much had happened since then.
Apparently, old Jisa wasn't too far gone. The sound of footsteps behind her, alerted her to the presence of someone else. Too late, obviously. If this was one of the many people that wanted to kill her, then she would have been dead already. The smell of briny salt overwhelmed the scent of the... well, intruder if you could call it that. His words told her that he was male, of course, and so she stood and turned to face him. The moist sand on the back of her jeans was uncomfortable now, but she literally just brushed it off and pulled some of her hair back to salvage what she could of the light.
"It's not a matter of being brave, it's a matter of knowing where the danger lies."
Which is at the moment, you. Jisa shoved off the thought as she did a quick glance up and down of the boy. One thing that caught her eye was the scars all over the left side of his torso. Well, it's not something that she hadn't seen everyday otherwise, so she cast that off- politely averting her gaze. It was only then that she got the slightest hint of his scent. Apart from the obvious scarring and muscular, tall build, his scent was somewhat a giveaway. EF it screamed. Jisa fought the urge to instantly pin him as enemy. Not every Hunter had a bone to pick with her. Just most of them.
"Gathering some Serenity before the storm. I work at some point tonight."
She shoved her hands into her jeans pockets as she looked at him, waiting. Hey, just because he couldn't be pinned as an enemy, did not mean that he couldn't attack. He looked very capable of it, and it never hurt to be on guard, now did it?

Soon enough, Felix felt his heartbeat slow and the heat leave his face. It had been a very long time since anyone had actually seen those disgusting scars on his body... and even longer still since Felix had actually let anyone see them. His freak embarrassment of the disfiguring marks was a hard thing to deal with, as well as diagnose. It was a mystery, especially to him, why the guy with so little regard for the modesty of others was so ridiculously embarrassed of his own body... as dumb and girly as that sounded. Because, it totally did sound like something a silly little girl would say. Most girls needed to be coaxed into anything that might fit into the "skimpy" range, which usually wasn't even all that "skimpy"... At least, the girls that Felix usually was interested in. Who wanted a girl that let her body be on display for the entire world? Hell no; if Felix wanted anything in a girl, it was her body all to himself, or not at all. He was greedy and selfish enough to actually break up with a woman just because of that. Felix shook his head lightly, marveling at the enormous-tangent he'd just come back from, and turned back to look at the girl in the sand. It was hard to determine what emotions pumped through Felix's mind as he watched, with a slightly bemused expression, as the girl leapt to her feet, and hurriedly brushed the sand from her pants, and pulled her hair back. Again, Felix wished that the moon as in a better spot so that he could actually see her face. She'd obviously been expecting something other than himself, no? Perhaps waiting for a date... or a friend... or a drug dealer? There were a number of things that this girl could've been doing out here by herself, but Felix really didn't think that any of those things were true about her. It really didn't seem like she was there and waiting to get a hit of cocaine or heroin... she was sitting too still. An addict probably would've been pacing the ground and fidgeting. Felix sighed in soft relief as he came to this conclusion, somehow, the boyo really didn't want to think that this girl was a druggie. For some reason, she seemed soft and innocent, like a child. It was endearing, but also eerie and alarming. Felix had only looked at a few women with that kind of mindset, and each time he had gotten himself into a serious shitfight. It seemed like the only women who exuded an innocent aura were the ones that were sent to kill him, or just kinda wanted to kill him for some reason. But, on the other hand, this little girl didn't seem like the others. Maybe the warning bells in his mind were -- " It's not a matter of being brave, it's a matter of knowing where the danger lies. " The boyo blinked once or twice, and then smirked to himself. Brave little girl, indeed! Felix nodded, still grinning, and said, " Sure, but even when you know where to point your gun, you aren't always able to protect yourself. " It was pretty basic in that respect, at least. Knowing was only half the battle. It was easy to pinpoint what was a possible danger, but only a few people could ward off an entire band of whatever... or whatever. The boyo shrugged softly and plopped down into the sand beside where she had been sitting, completely disregarding the strange girl's uneasy gaze. His back was turned to her, which was cocky and probably pretty stupid... but, at this point, Felix doubted that he had done anything to warrant a cuff to the back of the head, or a bullet in his shoulder. And, if he was going to wake up and regret this decision.. it was the momentary rush of adrenaline that he lived for anyway, right? So, let the girlie do her worst, and Felix would deal with it. Rolling his sore shoulders, the gent made a slight noise in the back of his throat and raised an eyebrow as he tried to pick apart her sentence. The first venue that came to mind was a prostitute, even though she obviously wasn't... and it made him chuckle softly. " Ah, I understand the feeling. And what is it that you do so late at night? " Nosy much?

It was sort of like two very strong willed personalities testing each other. All of the silence pushing its way between them. His blush faded away as quickly as it had come. That was good, it was very uncomfortable to see any unintentional display of emotion, such as blushing. The dark haired girl knew how it was to be betrayed like that. It wasn't something that she liked very much at all. Jisa could feel the dampness in the air and wished that the cool of the sand would radiate into the night. That'd be very nice. She looked down at the sand in between her toes and on the ground beneath her. If only she could see the pale colors, but out tonight, it was all darkness and pale silver moonlight. If it weren't for what she'd have to do tonight and for many, many nights onward, she might have enjoyed the quiet peacefulness. Minus the encounter with a man she didn't know. But, hey, you can't always have what you want. A movement out of her peripheral vision caused her to snap her head back upward to look at the young man. He had just shaken his head, as if to clear his thoughts. Silently, Jisa followed his lead and tried to shove all invading thoughts out of her head. It really was inconvenient to zone out in a maybe, potentially dangerous situation. However, there wasn't really any menacing tension in the air, just the endless humidity stifling the Shifter's lungs.
Honestly... Jisa groaned inwardly at herself, about the weather and the fact that her head just couldn't stay in the here and now. The young man seemed to be scrutinizing her, trying to figure something out. The tall woman leveled her gaze with his face, refusing to feel uncomfortable under his stare. The lowlight didn't allow her to see anything more than his height and a few very blurred and rough features of his face. Overall, it wasn't much to pin a name to, or a death wish. Suddenly he smiled at Jisa's comment, though her face remained stoic.
"Well, I assure you, I am more than capable of protecting myself."
She gave him an almost sassy-smile that momentarily crossed her face. It was slightly unnerving, not knowing why he was pushing the subject so much. If only the damn smell of brine and seaweed would go away or at least fade a little, then Jisa could at least hint at what he was. The boy walked past her and sat down, just next to where she had been sitting a few moments before. What the hell? The Shifter thought to herself, tilting her head back slightly but not turning to face his direction. He chuckled as if something was funny, and to be quite frank, Jisa didn't get the joke. His question muddled her further, but she decided to answer him anyway.
"Oh I don't know, tracking maybe. Trying to find something of importance to kill."
Reckless? Yeah. But did Jisa really care if this guy was just human- which she doubted- and she had just given away some EF secret? Oh hell no.

Felix waited patiently, allowing the strange girl to "scent" the air and feel out his personality a little. It wouldn't be polite to force her into any kind of conversation, and she was obviously wary of his presence... and the gent wasn't in any kind of hurry... so why not? Barely retaining the urge to drum his fingers on something, as he usually did when waiting for something of particular importance or interest, Felix was intent on letting the lady feel comfortable. In the meantime, the boyo settled in to deciphering their interaction thus far. It was prudent to study these kinds of things, failure to do so would usually result in death. The girl had been vaguely polite about looking away from the nasty scars on his body, but fairly exasperated by his reaction. Interesting, seeing as how she was a woman. Of course, it wasn't fair to assume that all women were modest, or even knew of modesty, but it was much more expected in women, was it not? Shrugging softly, Felix had just moved on to the next area of speculation when his companion spoke from somewhere behind him. " Well, I assure you, I am more than capable of protecting myself." The boy had to bite his lip to keep from laughing at her. What a delightful notion that was! It would be awesome if she could live up to that boast, not that he had any doubts of her capabilities. Few women would claim to know how to defend themselves properly if they were bluffing, seeing as how many men would attempt to make them prove it. And this girl, whatever her name was, wasn't over-confident or boastful, her cool voice was simply stating a fact. A wicked smile curved Felix's lips as he contemplated the implications of such a dangerous woman as she considered herself to be. Felix raised an eyebrow as the strange girl was silent again, and here he had been expecting a polite answer to his question! Rolling his shoulders softly, the lady finally mentioned tracking and killing, in almost a bored tone. The subject of her answer was strange enough to make Felix actually stop his thoughts and turn them to thinking about what she had just said. Well, that could mean she was a hunter of some kind, though stalking a deer or something by moonlight was probably something only Erik could do. The man was more wolf than human now, anyway, and, by his calculations, he made just as many of his kills as a man as he did as a wolf. A frightening idea to be sure... but Felix didn't think hunting was what this girl was talking about. Could she possibly be a mercenary? Felix almost laughed at the thought... he'd been a mercenary once, and the life was tough. There was almost nothing to be entertained by, and the only perks were scarce and far between. He'd met a lady once, who wouldn't give him a real name, that was a merc, even though she preferred the term assassin. Stunning broad, in fact. Felix often thought back on that chance encounter, wondering if he should've tried to keep some contact with her. Their brief conversations had been some of the most stimulating he'd ever had. Shrugging off his tangenting thoughts, Felix felt his eyes widen in surprise as he suddenly hit on, what he thought was, the answer. Half turning around to look at the girl, the boy grinned and asked, " Elite Forces? " The stupidly-named association was notorious for hunting down and killing rogue supernaturals. He was apart of that team, naturally, given his expertise... but he didn't work for the EF. Hell, Felix was on loan to Clearstone from the FBI... to document and report on the situation, as well as to assist in the "clean-up". Of course he was under-cover... the man who had hired him didn't even know that he was here and reporting to the Feds. It was a pity that he had direct orders not to reveal his status, though... the boy would've enjoyed watching his "manager" salute him and ask for instructions. With a cheeky grin, Felix patted the ground next to him, offering the girl a seat. She was intriguing... and now that he had some sort of inkling as to who she was, he wanted to know more about her. How did a woman get into the EF, if that was what she was, and hire on as an operative? Felix hadn't met any female-hunters, though, of course, he'd only been in this stupid town a few weeks. Idly the boy wondered what it must be like, given the general sensitivity of women, to track down and kill other human beings... even though the things that Felix hunted down, creatures like Erik, barely deserved the name "human". Supernaturals were the lowest of the low, and, to him, didn't deserve half an ounce of mercy. But, to a woman, it must be a different matter, yes? Felix returned to waiting patiently for an answer to his question, and a response to his invitation. The more she persisted in being taciturn and guarded, the more he would have to insist on making her comfortable... or uncomfortable, as it were.

You’re Gonna Wish You N e v e r h a d m e t M e
Nope. Jisa flicked her hair out of her face. There was too much silence, and though the Shifter was generally comfortable with that, there was something unnerving about the man before her. He just stood there, letting her gather herself and seemingly contemplating the situation as well. Jisa kept her teeth on her tongue, fiery temper would get her nowhere and it wasn’t necessary. There seemed to be some amusement and disbelief in the air overtime she mentioned that she was more than okay with keeping herself safe. I mean, did she look frail and… ugh. Okay so maybe she didn’t always keep herself quite ’safe’, but hey, she was still alive and pretty much unscathed. Usually the danger was self inflicted by bad decisions and arrogance. If Jisa really tried then maybe she might not be in such a mess at the moment with her life.
Her hellion blue eyes took in the shadows of his face from the corner of her vision. Jisa was not displeased with the fact that the young man did a double take on her latest answer. From underneath her careful shield, the Shifter was increasingly curious of this boy. Of course, she would not show it because it would be weakness… wouldn’t it?
As the conversation, or lack thereof, went on, the less Jisa was comfortable. Yeah, the fact that he wasn’t there to kill her was proved, because he would have tried by now. However, she was becoming less sure of herself. That couldn’t be tolerated. Suddenly, Jisa was brought back to the present and sheepishly removed her glaring gaze off of him and out to the ocean. She couldn’t help but roll her eyes when he guessed who- or what- she was.
”Oh, he’s a smart one.”
She quipped dryly, fighting the urge to roll her eyes. A gentle breeze pushed stray strands of her hair to the edge of her face. Jisa refused to look at him again, yet she could see his half grin as he looked at her. The boy patted the ground next to him. Narrowing her eyes, Jisa thought about it for a second before deciding that he wasn’t going to try to cause her harm… yet. So she settled about a foot away from him, all of her muscles wired to spring if he so decided to try something. Then, she sighed and decided to try to be a little less… moody?
”Yes. I work for the EF. And I have for the past three years.”

Felix, again, was reduced to waiting patiently for the stranger's answer to his questions. Her reluctance was admirable, but unneeded and annoying all the same. The boyo knew, all too well, the feeling of being on foreign turf and being questioned closely by someone that might, or might not be, an enemy. It wasn't the most comfortable position to be in, which was why he was so willing to allow this girl her space for the moment. The last thing he wanted to do was scare her off, or make her even more closed-mouth about herself. Turning his attention from the mysterious girl, with no little amount of difficulty, to the ocean, Felix inhaled and exhaled in a content sorta-way, smiling as he did so. In his efforts to put the girl at her ease, he even assumed a poor position, making a show of being completely vulnerable to attack, and in no way capable of lashing out at her quickly. The gent brought his knees up, and hooked his arms around his shins, just shy of resting his chin on his kneecaps. There, she oughta feel less endangered now, right? A cool breeze ruffled Felix's sandy hair as he glanced all around, only allowing his eyes to touch on the, still-standing, girl for a moment or two, then moving on. Vaguely, the cynical voice in the back of his head snickered at his strange earnest-ness to make the lass feel comfortable. Alas, the man didn't know himself why he was in such a rush to make this lady talk to him. Something about her was interesting, that much he'd already admitted, but, for some reason, her cold eyes and the merciless twist to her mouth reeled him in like a hooked trout. Felix had never met a woman so cold... there must be an interesting bit of backstory there, no? Finally, after what seemed to be an eternity and a half, the girl sneered at him and his jubilant epiphany. Raising an unamused eyebrow, Felix just looked at her until she took advantage of his offer of a seat. Well, at least he was right about what she did for a living... That train of thought was lost to him as the stranger took her seat beside him, perhaps ten or eleven inches away from his hip. Well, he wasn't about to coax her to scoot closer; this was close enough. More than close enough, in fact. The hint of breeze that fluttered toward him brought the girl's scent right into his face, almost drawing out a sigh. She smelled absolutely divine... like some kind of flowery... something or other. Shaking his head in irritation, Felix exhaled sharply. Any closer and he would've been inhaling that smell constantly.. not the most pleasant of thoughts. Shifting his seat in the sand, the boyo turned his head toward her slightly, to better catch the sound of her voice, as she returned to his previous question in a much more civil way. " Yes. I work for the EF. And I have for the past three years. " Her words were clipped and to-the-point, almost detached in a number of ways, but Felix didn't really mind the less-than-conversational tone that she seemed to favor. It suited her mood fairly well... even though it was a blatant show of weakness to allow her "enemy" so obvious a window to her emotions. It was a measure of professionalism when an agent could retract himself, or herself, from his or emotions far enough to adopt a pleasing and at-east facade to present to the company. The soft breeze picked up again just as Felix opened his mouth, and turned to look at her, to tell her to relax, and barely caught himself at the last moment. Instead, he defaulted to whatever was passing through his brain at the moment: " You smell very nice. " Again, Felix pulled on his years of training to keep his face smooth and his mouth smiling in that cheeky grin. To save face, however, the boyo turned back to look at the ocean, mentally beating his forehead against a brick-wall. Where the fuck had that little jewel come from? " Three years, you said? That's an impressive record... especially for somewhere this quiet and small. I don't know if I would stay sane trapped in a place this size for one year, let alone three... " Scout's honor on that. Felix loved the big cities... even though Clearstone was beginning to get a little brighter. Perhaps he could persuade this lass into some kind of friendship? That might keep things interesting until the Feds pulled him back out of this hellhole. ' You smell nice? ' Jesus.

You’re Gonna Wish You N e v e r h a d m e t M e
This conversation seemed a lot more… trying than it should be. Partially, Jisa thought it was because both of them were willing to respect space and privacy but honestly, the word dancing was a little trivial. Of course, it was Jisa herself doing the favor of being evasive. Blame the anti-social life of a double crossing nineteen year old. Movement from the young man in the corner of her eye startled the Shifter for a second, before she realized he was just shifting his weight. Momentarily, her icy blue eyes narrowed. Relax, part of her willed, because really, at this point what did she have to lose? Again she reminded herself of the fact that if he was a threat, he’d have probably attacked by now. In the back of her mind, Jisa was intrigued by this man who had chosen to try to speak with her. Not many would try that, sometimes because they could tell that she was EF, in a Supernatural point of view, and sometimes simply because she was intimidating and harsh. Either way. In some ways, she felt more at ease around this guy than any other stranger in town. Perhaps it was because he didn’t pry. The black haired girl thought that the next thing he’d say would be yet another question, but it turned out to be… well, not a question.
”Um… thanks?”
Jisa’s brow creased in confusion at the sudden ridiculous comment. A moment or two later, she couldn’t help but to laugh a little. It was a strange sound, to her at least. When was the last time she had laughed? Or at least found amusement in a conversation? Remaining pent up tension released from her as the laughing did. As soon as the conversation had turned slightly strange, it returned to its former topic. The Elite Forces. Definitely an everyday topic. Jisa brushed a few strands of stray hair out of her face as she let him finish his sentence. This time, she didn’t make him wait for an answer.
“Well, I get around. This place used to be a lot bigger and more exciting. I guess everyone’s gone to bigger cities. Not that I’d blame them.”
All that were really left were runaways and misfits. Clearstone seemed a perfect place for new beginnings and for those who needed to forget their past. For Jisa all it held was the past, because this is where it had all started.

Out of habit, as the girl flinched in response to his subtle movement, Felix returned the favor. He tugged himself away from her, and cast a wary glance in her direction, which was immediately followed by a chagrined grimace and a clearing of his throat. He regretted the knee-jerk reaction... hopefully she would take it as nothing more than him being startled by her sudden movement. Ugh, that was embarrassing. He seemed to be making a complete fool out of himself this evening! First with his stupid comment about how she smelled, which was lovely, and now with him acting jumpy. Perhaps there was still time to salvage the situation before she decided to leave him for the comfort of her bed... oh, wait, she was working tonight. Felix stifled a shudder as he imagined this cold-blooded huntress tracking down, and maybe killing, something. Again the boy had to remind himself that he felt no compassion or sympathy for the supernaturals, and that they were worse than the worse sort of vermin... but the mental image of this little girl killing anything struck him as eerie. What would she think of that? The boyo risked a side-glance at his companion. She would most likely be offended by his lack of belief in her abilities... anyone that cold would be irritated. Hell, Felix would be angry if anyone told him he didn't look as dangerous as he was, or that the idea of him killing something was as hard to summon up as-- " Um... thanks? " The strange girl was obviously confused by his interesting comment; it showed plainly on her face, which was becoming increasingly hard to read with the quickly failing light. A pang of regret stole through him before he could catch it. Felix actually regret the fact that he wasn't able to see her face very clearly. Ha. Well, eyes were the windows to the soul... and it was never easy reading someone's expression when they were hidden by darkness, now was it? Rolling his shoulders softly and trying to puzzle out a response to give her, Felix realized with a start that he didn't even know this girl's name. How rude of him not to introduce himself! All his musings were stopped in their tracks at the sound of the lady's laughter. It nearly stilled his heart! Felix blinked softly, trying to scrounge up his dignity and say something, but nothing came to mind... Her laughter reminded him of his sister's... and, for one moment, he was sitting at his kitchen table, trying to think of ways to make his sister laugh, brushing away her tears with his hands, and asking God to help him make her happy. And then his companion stopped laughing. Felix was brought back to reality with a painful slap, and he was breathless for a minute or two. It really took him that long to collect his thoughts, and beat away the cobwebs from his brain. " Hmm? " the boy asked absently, turning back to look at the girl, before he realized that she had been answering his previous question. " Ah, yes. Hmm... I suppose I'd have to take your word for it... I've just moved here from New York, so my knowledge of Clearstone is very scanty. " There, that should satisfy for a reply. It would make sense, wouldn't it, for people to move from this decadent town into a brighter and better place? Felix had only been here a number of weeks and he was already missing New York terribly. There wasn't much left in this town but the filthy supernaturals and people that didn't want to be found. Jesus, hopefully the Feds pulled him out soon. " Nor would I, " Felix added as an afterthought, " blame them, I mean. It's places like this that make you pine for bright lights and good food. " Clearing his through absently, the boy tried to keep his thoughts, which kept trying to slide back into his past, on the present, and his, now-amiable, companion. " My name is Felix, by the way, Felix Artorus. " He extended his tattooed hand forward to shake hers if she wanted, " What's yours? " Perhaps not the most polite way of asking, but Felix's mind was still fuzzy and raw. He needed to find some way to get those memories removed... as, obviously, just suppressing them didn't seem to be doing a whole lot of good.

You’re Gonna Wish You N e v e r h a d m e t M e
Jisa stilled her tense nerves, refusing to jump as the other man did at her sudden reaction. It was really ridiculous how they were both acting, jumpy and awkward. Not that it helped that she hadn’t had a real conversation in too long to remember. He then shuddered and Jisa had to mask the question that threatened to rise in her face. Already she had been too open, not minding what she showed on her face. It didn’t happen often, but it had become unacceptable. Small nagging in the back of her mind made her curious about this boy and what he was thinking. Curiosity killed the cat, Jisa chastised herself, noting how relevant to her situation that could potentially be. Sighing gently, Jisa stretched her muscles that had been tensed for too long without action. This little conversation had seemed to be suspended in time, but the lurch in her stomach reminded her that she was going to have to go and do her job at some point. Otherwise another threatening visit from the General. Joy of all joys. The darker it got, the more that fact hung over her head.
The young man froze after she laughed. Concern rose in her eyes instead of a knee jerk reaction that she had willed away. Pain seemed to flash through his eyes, which were shrouded by the deep darkness down here, far away from the town. Jisa was surprised no more people were down here tonight, it was summer after all and it was usually packed. Not that Jisa would be here if it was. The silence stretched on and Jisa stayed silent, waiting for her new acquaintance to reply. She was a little shocked, she was the one to hold the silence so far, not him. Had she done something wrong? Gently Jisa calmed her thoughts and centered back on the situation. Tuning back into the waves crashing against the shore, the unbearable humidity on her skin, the taste of salt and freedom. Her nerves calmed and the Shifter relaxed into the silence.
He finally spoke and Jisa fought not to sigh in relief. She nodded in agreement. There was just something that Jisa could not shake about Clearstone, it was her home and though she’d probably never travel, she was okay with it. Clearstone was enough excitement for her. Felix offered his name and his hand, asking hers in return. She stared with her piercing blue eyes at his tattoed hand for a second before sighing and taking it.
“Jisanna Taylor. But I prefer Jisa.”

Felix watched her deadpan face for any sign of emotion as the girlie stared at his hand. It was interesting to guess at what she must be thinking; the internal debate over whether or not to actually touch his hand. The boyo almost smirked with delight as he imagined the turmoil he was causing in her brain! Interesting thing to find pleasing, but pleasing it was, all the same! Finally, after what seemed a year or two, the pretty girl clasped his hand in a firm grip and said, " Jisanna Taylor. But I prefer Jisa. " The man smiled softly and nodded in acknowledgement before letting go of her hand. No need to make her uncomfortable, no matter how much he would've liked to look at her hand a bit more. His strange fascinations with curious things was eventually get him into trouble. More than one girl had stalked off in a rage after he'd asked to feel how soft her hair was, or compare the tones of their skin. And he was just as sure that this new friend of his, Jisanna, would do much the same if he asked her for permission to feel the pads of her hands, and look at her fingers, maybe see how much longer his were when compared to hers... This fear was rational... even understandable, perhaps, seeing as how the modern sense of propriety and personal space had condemned such innocent curiosities as vile and strange. So Felix was forced to relinquish her hand, and return his safely to his lap, just in case she were to feel threatened by his hovering hands. Without really meaning to, the boyo noticed how Jisanna checked the sky every now and again, gauging how much light still remained in the sky. Hmm, perhaps she was nervous about it growing too dark. After all, it was probably a little frightening to be met with the prospect of being alone on a deserted stretch of beach with a large man.... after dark. Felix frowned softly. She couldn't possibly think that he would try and rape her... could she? After all, he had had plenty of opportunities thus far, and spurned them all for the sake of her conversation. The gent quirked a brow, and was on the verge of asking when he recalled that she had mentioned working at some point tonight. Perhaps she was getting antsy, and wanting to get straight to work, rather than face a visit from her superiors? " You know, if you would rather keep me company tonight, instead of working, " Felix said in a nonchalant voice, " ...I'm positive that nobody from the Elite Forces would bother you over it. At least they wouldn't after I talk with them about it." With an expectant smile, the boy turned to look at Jisanna, waiting for her reaction. If he were to pull the right strings, Felix was more than capable of handing Jisanna anything that she wanted... though how to do so without arousing suspicion from her was the key. If she caught wind of him being some Federal Jagoff, she probably would think he was only after an easy-lay. A friend smoothing things over was a much better option. It left him a considerable amount of maneuver room, as well. Felix was completely able to shrug it off if Jisanna refused his offer, however kindly meant it was. Perhaps she really enjoyed her work? It didn't seem likely, even though Felix found himself enjoying his job immensely, however scarce "supernaturals" had been. He honestly hoped that they existed, just so he could kill one. Hell, he'd kill the first supernatural he saw, just to report to Daroga, and buy himself a ticket out of this cesspool. If the presence of supernaturals was confirmed, then the Feds would send in someone "more qualified"... or at least a partner to help him eradicate the infestation. Maybe it would even be a woman. Shrugging to himself, Felix turned back to Jisanna, waiting for a response to his ever-so-kind offer. Hopefully she'd take him up on it... and, if not, he could always see her around. Too bad he didn't know much else about her. Aha! The company directory must have her info. Problem solved. Felix couldn't stop the grin from spreading on his lips. Ha. Felix-1 : World-0.

You’re Gonna Wish You N e v e r h a d m e t M e
Usually, being looked at would be totally fine because, hey, who doesn’t stare at a tall, dark girl walking down the street of a sleepy town? Jisa got the impression that just maybe, Felix was enjoying this. He did seem to get awfully interested overtime she betrayed herself and seemed slightly hesitant or suspicious of him. Jisa felt her face turn down into a scowl for a moment or two, before she smoothed it off. Felix held onto her hand just a breath longer than Jisa would have liked, but he let go and returned to himself pretty quickly. His hands had been slightly rough, weathered as if he’d been doing work that involved an awful lot of power. It reminded Jisa of herself, sort of. The uncanny sense of a Supernatural ran through Jisa’s veins, and it told her that this human was a lot more aware of her than he should be. It made her slightly uncomfortable, knowing that he was noticing even the most minute of her movements. Soon after Jisa realized that she was probably being rude, checking the sky made it seem as if she was counting down the minutes to get away from him. This was not the case but it could be seen that way, the Shifter realized.
Felix offered her quite the deal. Jisa doubted that Felix, even with his slightly suspicious offering and confirmation that no one would mind, could stop the General from reminding her of her place. It’s not as if anyone trusted her. Hell, if Jisa was in the General’s shoes, she wouldn’t trust herself either. At that moment, Jisa had a revelation. Ash could take on the EF easily, and Anya wasn’t going many places. No one else was left to lose so, why not stall just one more day? It’d give enough time to perhaps figure out a way to leave the EF without sending Ash and Anya off to their deaths. With a trademark Jisa smile, she nodded.
”Why not?”
She answered, a little more heart in her voice than usual. That was more like the Jisa from back in the day… somewhere within five years ago. It’s not like you have much else to lose… Her mind reminded her. Oh yeah, everything about her had a sick sense of humor. Jisa didn’t want to know why Felix was so sure the EF would let her off so easily, because at the moment she didn’t really care. The young man grinned, making Jisa’s eyebrow raise, but she shrugged it off. Might as well relax, Jisa told herself as she laid back onto the sand, enjoying the coolness against her skin.
Maybe today wasn’t so bad after all.

Jisanna, the name was feminine and functional, and the shortened version was only slightly less so. It wasn't a name that he'd heard before, but there wasn't really anything to be gleaned from a unique name. 'Felix' wasn't particularly common anymore, but nor was it something as foreign to-the-ears as 'Jisanna'. The boy found himself rolling the name around in his head, getting a feel for it... and after a moment of reflection, decided that he liked it. It fit her, perhaps almost as well as the nickname that he'd applied to her in his mind: "Icy". Felix entertained himself for a moment by doodling with his finger in the sand, drawing a circle, and something that vaguely resembled a stalk of celery. It was all he could do to not tap his fingers in the lengthening silence between his posed question, and her forthcoming reply. However... he came upon the thought as unexpectedly as he'd come upon her, sitting in the sand. Going back over the invitation in his head... Dear god. Felix chuckled to himself, doing his best to stay as silent as possible. It sounded a good bit like he'd been inviting her to a sexy liaison. As he was debating to himself whether or not to speak up, and make sure his companion knew that his intentions were nothing but the purest, she saved him the trouble by replying. "Why not?"The little smile of amusement that had been playing on his lips for the last few seconds blossomed into a full grin at her... gracious acceptance of the offer of his company. Felix brought a hand up to tousle his hair, to make sure the seawater hadn't clumped it too badly, "Well that's good to hear, I'd thought--" and spluttered unattractively as his hand seemed to loose a large quantity of partially dried sand into his eyes, hair, and mouth. Felix found himself glowering at the ocean that he'd admired so fondly, and muttering a curse in his native German. "Ahem. Yes. Well." The boy scrabbled for some kind of dignified response to his embarrassment. Of course, there was none... so, instead, he decided to roll with it. "Now that I've adequately ascertained exactly how briny this beach tastes, I expect I'd like a change of clothing." The boyo stood and stretched fluidly, reaching down to touch his toes effortlessly, then back up to glance around the beach... trying to figure exactly how to best return to his little house from wherever he was. After selecting a route, he leaned down, effecting a silly sort of bow. "Madame?" he asked, offering her his hand to help her to her feet.

I’M STUCK HERE IN THE MIDDLE AT WAR WITH GOOD AND EVIL Jisa had decided that Felix, while quirky to say the least, was not someone who posed an immediate threat to her. She had made that clear by taking up his offer soon after he'd given it to her, but it was only after she'd realized what she had done that she thought it over. For years she'd been slow to trust, not that she could yet say whether she actually trusted him, and it had gotten to a point where Jisa thought that she didn't have much to lose by giving people a chance - giving herself a chance. A lifetime full of 'what if's and regrets wasn't something she looked forward to, and it was time to stop adding to the list, she decided. In any case, if it went badly this time, she could just reason that she had tried, if nothing else, and never do it again.
It seemed he was sharing a private joke with himself before she managed to answer, and she couldn't help but looking toward him curiously, only distantly noting his doodling in the sand. But once he heard her answer, the smile on his face swelled, and Jisa found herself taken aback by the fact that she'd had a part in that. Causing other people joy - if that's what it was - was not something Jisa could often say she had done. She couldn't help but return the smile when Felix managed to dump sand down his face while checking his hair. Sure, she was a little astounded by the guy's blatant confidence, but it was the combination of that with his apparent capacity for making a fool of himself that really intrigued Jisa. When he growled a small curse, or what she deciphered as a lightly annoyed mutter, she wondered what language it was, or if she was just horribly misunderstanding his English.
All she managed was an amused raised eyebrow at his smooth recovery before he stood and stretched in languor, casting his eyes around their surroundings. Just a moment prior to her getting to her feet herself, Felix offered her a hand in a ridiculous little bow that made her heart ache with the memory of Ace's gentility. It momentarily took the breath out of her, but there was nothing for it so she just chuckled lightly and took his hand for the second time that night so he could help pull her up from the sand.
"Thank you," she said, once standing.
She followed him as they walked down the beach, using a route he had no doubt figured out in the quiet moments before he helped her to her feet. The night was beautiful, dark and quiet, but Jisa found herself glancing at Felix out of the corner of her eyes. Curiosity killed the cat, she supposed, but there were many more things that could kill a person (or a supernatural) in this life, so she went for it.
"What was that language you spoke before?" she asked.
