"Life and death? Good and evil? Heh, if only it were that easy. I'm so used to fighting creatures from the beyond: Hellspawn, wendigos, spectres. But now....I just don't know anymore.
I wish we were fighting the undead again; that way, I would at least know who my enemies were.
No; actually, I do know who my enemies are.
These traitors; these insurgents wish to harm our people, crush our dreams, destroy the peace; all for their ambitious desires. The undead had no choice in their actions, but these rebels choose to murder and steal. I will give them as much mercy as they would give me: None.
We cannot feel shame for protecting our people. To do so would be an insult for all that we stand for.
Hexanu must stand as the beacon of hope; the City of Paradise, and it is so for thee I stand. For my God, my family, my people."

"Don't think they'll follow me down here. Those imperial scum wouldn't dare come down in the sewers. We control this half of town, and before long, the rest is soon to be ours as well. We asked for freedom and food; so they took both from us, and demanded more. Now we are taking it back.
The blight that is the Empire has starved our people for too long. They have gained much power in the war, and now with little opposition, their new-found strength has made them corrupt. I don't fight for power; I fight for the people of Hexanu, the City of Paradise! Those imperials have the nerve to call this a "Rebellion"? No, this is a Revolution!"

"Day 54 of research. Javeson and I have made little progress in the past week. Learning the holy arts is seeming to become more and more frustrating as the days go by. I can see the light,... but it is just out of my grasp.
After trying to heal a well-known noble, I keep getting the feeling that I have been followed or watched. Not sure if it is just paranoia of the times, or if someone is actually keeping a close eye on me. It doesn't matter either way; I have a job to do.
Research into refined healing magic is becoming far more difficult than we anticipated, but we won't run out of wounded to test on anytime soon; not with that war going on out there. If only there wasn't need for magic such as this. Can't wait until the day I don't have a job, that's for sure.
Until then, I have work to do. The interns are wheeling in another wounded. By the obvious signs of combat, and lack of armor or insignia, it's is obviously a rebel. Looks like she took an axe to the shoulder. I am going to attempt to reattach her arm."

Ten years ago, the Undead War had begun between the Nation of Cruinthe and the Legions of Cuel Squa'al Ta'al. The war raged for six years, and when all seemed lost for the Cruinthians, the Black Templar, zealots of holy might and righteousness, had turned the tide on battlefields across Cruinthe.
Upon the birth of the Undead War, Hexanu was created by a noble family, and the city quickly became a safe haven for refugees of the war. After years of constant frustration between the people, a rebellion was formed against the Empire.
And yet, caught between these two warring factions, the Imperials, and the Rebels, are the scholars and regular people of the city of Hexanu. They try to eke out a living as street brawls break out all over town, while everything else going on around them turns their lives upside down.
A scholar, a soldier, or even a civilian. These are their stories, and the story of a single city, on a tiny island east of a great war.
Yet deep inside the X'arra mountain, a horror stirs like no other.
